I arrived here in Turkey last 19th of July 2008. I thought before that it’s also like Middle East countries where majority of the people know how to speak in arabic. But I made a mistake in my assumption.

Of course they speak Turkish language which i did not understand at all. I just known that they have a mix language from Russia, Iran, some arabic and other language. I understand some of them specially those of arabic origin because i have been to Middle East countries for quite a while.

what’s more to my surprise, very few of them know how to speak in English. we can barely communicate with the people. Even the driver that take us from the airport did not know, at all, how to speak in english. Yes, we communicated through sign language which sometimes are misunderstood.

Luckily one of our contact person know how to speak in english a bit and we usually as him to interpret or translate what has been spoken by our colleagues or co-workers. It’s good if we have a dictionary or something…

so there you go, i should have done my homework before i went to turkey so I will not make an assumption that’s totally wrong.

But hey! everyone makes mistakes.. I learn more by making mistake, at least. But the most important lesson there is that I must not commit the same mistakes again….
